How to edit a recording in the Studio (desktop app)

Pro planWindows app

Sidebar → "Studio" → double-click a recording card (a "Screen", "Webcam", or "Edit" project) to open it in the ScriptFox Studio window. Use ↻ on a card to duplicate it as a fresh edit; "New Edit" is for importing a video you made elsewhere (the file is used in place, so don't move it afterwards).

The editor has four steps across the top: "1 · Edit", "2 · Color", "3 · Audio", "4 · Review & Export". On the Edit tab: "Select mode (A)" to select, drag to reorder, drag edges to trim; "Cut mode (B)" or S cuts at the playhead; Delete removes a clip and closes the gap, Backspace leaves a blank. Lanes run Captions, Effects, Text, Layer 2, Webcam, Screen, Audio, Music, SFX; the Inspector on the right has Video, Audio, Text, Transition, and Effect tabs. Click a join between clips for a transition (Crossfade, Fade, Zoom, Smooth cut). The Style group below the timeline sets the background, padding, corners, auto-zoom, click ripples, and the webcam shape. Titles and text come from the Effects panel → "Titles & text".

Everything saves automatically on your computer; Ctrl+Z undoes. Space plays, J/K/L shuttle, ← → step a frame.

Two ways to a person. Both are read by Tyler, who built ScriptFox.

Fox is the chat bubble at the bottom right of every page once you are signed in. It answers from these same pages and hands you to a person when it can't.
