Using the Call Mode overlay in the desktop app

Pro planWindows app

In the desktop app, open a script in the prompter and click the float / call-overlay button in the bottom toolbar (or say "Hey Fox, open call mode"). A transparent, always-on-top window opens with the script and starts voice tracking. Hover its top edge for the bar: "ScriptFox · drag to move" on the left, "Click-through: on/off" and ✕ ("Close overlay") on the right.

  • Click-through on: clicks pass through to Zoom, OBS, or whatever is underneath, so you can't drag or resize the overlay until you switch it off (the bar button, the tray icon → "Toggle click-through", or Ctrl+Shift+L).
  • Hotkeys work from any app: Ctrl+Shift+O shows or hides the overlay, Ctrl+Shift+Space plays or pauses.
  • Opacity, font size, and colors are set in the overlay's own Settings and saved separately from the main prompter.
  • The overlay is hidden from screen sharing and recordings by default, so your audience never sees it. To include it on purpose, tick the tray icon → "Show overlay in recordings".

The tray icon also has "Show overlay" / "Hide overlay" and "Close overlay". If the overlay seems missing after "Show overlay", it may be parked on another display.

Still stuck?

Two ways to a person. Both are read by Tyler, who built ScriptFox.

Fox is the chat bubble at the bottom right of every page once you are signed in. It answers from these same pages and hands you to a person when it can't.
