How to allow the microphone in Chrome, Safari and Edge

Voice tracking needs the microphone, and the browser asks once, the first time you press Start. If you answered no, or the question never appeared, the site is blocked and nothing is heard until you allow it. Where that lives:

  • Chrome on a computer: click the icon at the left end of the address bar (a lock or a sliders icon), open the site settings, set Microphone to Allow, then reload the page.
  • Edge: the lock icon at the left end of the address bar, then the permissions for this site, Microphone to Allow, reload.
  • Safari on a Mac: in the Safari menu, choose the settings for getscriptfox.com, set Microphone to Allow, reload. (The same list is in Safari's Settings under Websites.)
  • Safari on an iPhone or iPad: tap the page settings button at the left of the address bar, open the website settings, set Microphone to Allow. If it says the microphone is off for Safari altogether, allow it in the iPhone's Settings under Safari.
  • Chrome on Android: the lock icon in the address bar, then Permissions, Microphone to Allow. If Chrome itself has no microphone access, allow it in Android's Settings under Apps.
  • The ScriptFox phone apps ask on their own the first time; if you said no, allow the microphone for ScriptFox in the phone's Settings.

If the browser is allowed and still nothing is heard: another app may be holding the microphone (a call, a recorder, a car over Bluetooth); close it or disconnect, then press V twice (Pace, then Voice) to reopen the mic. A headset that was unplugged mid-read is picked up again on its own.

Checked against the app on October 20, 2026.

Still stuck?

Two ways to a person. Both are read by Tyler, who built ScriptFox.

Fox is the chat bubble at the bottom right of every page once you are signed in. It answers from these same pages and hands you to a person when it can't.
